Missoni

Usually I'm not really into Missoni, but this season was fairly SICK. The floral+people print really took it to another level of epic while the long layers felt so pretty and angsty. oh yeah and SO MARNI. I'm not entirely sure what it was that made it so but MAYBE it could have been the shoes, prints, collars and general entirety. The only thing I can think of at the moment that could be improved was those shoes. They were ok but I think I would have liked it more if they were sandals like these Comme des Garcons.

I don't know, I think it would make it even more angsty little girly if they had sandals in matching pastels to wear when splashing around in mud. Or playing mind games with their pet lambs while sitting awkwardly in muddy ponds. While wearing that Missoni floral jumpsuit (second on the top left). Anyway, don't mind me I'm just visualising.

F/W 2011 pt.2

Alexander Wang

I was really excited when I saw the Wang livestreamn yesterday. ('Oh My God, this is happening LIKE, NOW!') Until I realised that it actually streamed the day before at like midnight or something, and this was just a replay on loop. I like to call it 'Teen Tragedy'.
Anyway, this show was like, really GREAT. It was just really, really typical Wang, which is a really, really good thing. Case in point; there was loads of black, and a great contrast of textures, and loads of outerwear (it being a fall collection and all...). You will have to see the rest of the show on Style.com. (Look, a handy link, I just wasted my time so that YOU don't have to click and type. Surely the time that everyone who reads this blog will err GAIN from my work means that if you do the math then the money I would be earning that I have lost thanks to my SELFLESSNESS, should be paid back to me by everyone who reads this blog. (i.e no one) and therefore, I can buy Alexander Wang coats!) (Just re read that and it made no sense) as I have only included four pictures. This is because every other show I've reviewed has four pictures and it would feel wrong to disrupt my other friends, I mean pictures... in their humble existence.

Anyway the CLOTHES were also good. This might be because the collection is like Wang s/s 2010 with added sophistication and fur. Holly likey. The only odd looks were the ones at the end, that had like, swirling strips? (pic 4.) That felt a bit wrong to me. Kind of like Jellyfish, but I guessed that could be interepreted as a good thing. Anyway, haven't totally made up my mind about them yet. I loved the shoes, beautifully/ridiculously high, I can't wait for them to pop up on Polyvore so I can waste my time further putting together clothes that I can't have.
Anyway, that was a really 'HEY GUYS/OTHER WORDS LETS LIKE NEVER GET TO THE POINT!' type o' post.

Yours truthfully
Holly

So Fall 2011 Fashion Week has already started, I'm not so sure how it happened so quickly, (Spring 2011 feels like a month ago) all those cool cats (Mum word) in the fashion industry just need to take a deep breath and calm down a little.

Vena Cava

Vena Cava was pretty great, the prints were spot on and cooperated with the wool textures really well. I really liked the proportions of the skirt-jumper combos and shoes were pretty ok. They also had short skirts but I guess I subconsciously avoided them when making this collage thing on Piknik.

 Steven Alan

Steven Alan was like boring? It just felt like a magazine shoot by some publication like InStyle or a SHOP til you drop 'Weekend' special. The clothes would be really fun to layer though, but the styling in the show didn't really feel special.

Rachel Comey

This show was quite good, there was a big variety of prints some of which I liked. The African one was a bit off but it kind of worked in the outfit? (pic 4.) There was also one that reminded me of clouds and feathers, but in a kind of harsh way? It didn't really look soft but maybe that was the point? I don't know. Also what was with the hair? Someone trying to be 'edgy' by doing a mullet? The last picture is amusing me by looking like a toupee.

Peter Som

Peter Som was pretty Ok, there were feathers and sequins and other 'luxurious' materials but it was put together in quite a casual way. Which I kind of liked. This show wasn't my favourite that he has done but it was still pretty effective.

Anyway back to my real life, back to reality.

'brown paper packages tied up with string'

At the moment I'm doing an assignment at school on wearable art and the environment. So now as you have probs guessed everyone has to make a 'piece of art' that is also wearable and has stuff to do with the environment. Oh and we have to show it at the school fashion parade. OH School that is soo like you.

Consumerism is ma thang so I'm doing that as a subject. I also rediscovered the ed. 'Organised Robots' by Steven Miesel. Something I'm kind of obsessed with at the moment. Which made me want to work that in somehow. HOW is the key word here.

Anyway this is my moodboard for my piece, because you're all so interested in my school project.

Some picture from an etsy store I forget, unknown, Alexander McQueen S/S 2011, Organised Robots by Steven Miesel, Comme des Garcons f/w 2009, Organised Robots by Steven Miesel, Diane Arbus, unknown, The Sound of Music, Diane Arbus, Man Ray, and I think this was from Style.com.

'Can Celine be my destiny?'

For some reason Prefall never actually feels like a proper season. It's more just a filler to keep the buyer and the follower interested until the next major season arrives. Rescuing the follower from the imminent boredom that lies between seasons. Kind of depressing that I can't wait 6 months before I want something new, but I'm so accustomed to it now it would seem weird to not be seeing new clothes all the time. But who cares what the fashion industry's fast tracking has done to us as human beings.

Sing and be Merry for it is Celine.

Grungy tartan. Socks. Textures of dreams. Blabbering incontinently.

And the denim.
Oh the denim...

The pants have racing stripes. RACING STRIPES.

Seriously did not think that Celine would blow me away like this. Maybe because this is just like a sharper version of Marc Jacobs f/w 2010 (especially pics. 3, 9 and 10). Which still haunts my dreams *husky witch voice*.

Doll World

Seriously guys, no words...

Just insane smiling and rocking back and forth on office chair...

'Where the hell do these people come from?' I will say.
'From Japan.' you will tell me.
'Well yeah... but...'

The Japanese have the best (the best) aesthetic. All their amazing layering with deconstructed epicness and their 'fabrics of dreams'.  I might try and emulate or 'be inspired by' some of these, (because you know originality is soooo overrated). But I think I will have to wait until like April as living in the Southern Hemisphere is quite poopy sometimes regarding weather.

Deep luurrve for all my Japanese pallies.
